Job Overview

The WBCSD Soft Commodities Forum is seeking an Associate to support the technical delivery of its workplan to address conversion and deforestation driven by soft commodities in the Brazilian Cerrado. Together with WBCSD members and agreed external partners, the Associate will support the design and delivery of key action with a focus on supply chain transparency and landscape interventions. The Associate will be a member of the Scaling Positive Agriculture team within WBCSD Food and Nature Program. He/she will report to and work in close collaboration with the Senior Manager, Soft Commodities Forum.

Responsibilities

The Associate will help coordinate the development and implementation of the Soft Commodities Forum workplan along four main axes:

  • Data management and analysis: Manage the collection, aggregation and analysis of Soft Commodities Forum members’ data for the purpose of reporting and the development of key methodologies and KPIs.
  • Coordination and meeting management: Lead day-to-day project coordination activities with a focus on ensuring the effective delivery of workstream and project meetings, and associated follow ups
    • Facilitate the development and timely delivery of the Monitor Land Use workplan, including management of workstream meetings and knowledge, data aggregation and analysis in partnership with members and key external partners
    • Facilitate the coordination of the Soft Commodities Transform Landscapes transformation workplan, including management of workstream meeting and knowledge, preparation of supporting materials and engagement with key external partners and implementors
  • Stakeholder management and engagement: Effectively communicate with SCF members, external stakeholders, and WBCSD team, clearly setting expectations and coordinating the implementation of projects related to the SCF's three workstreams (transforming landscapes, monitoring land-use and engaging external stakeholders)
  • Communication and events management: Support the development of communication material and organization of events on behalf of the SCF

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional qualification in agricultural sciences, environmental protection, statistics, or sustainable development
  • 3+ years of operational experience in international project management, agribusiness, environmental protection and/or sustainable development, with a focus on forests or commodities trading a plus
  • Experience working with private sector, government and other sector stakeholders
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details, familiar and comfortable working with numbers and data and excellent Excel skills
  • Comfortable with financial incentives structures and tools
  • Excellent understanding of the food value chain and related global sustainability, health, societal and political challenges
  • Strong organizational and planning skills; ability to support the SCF Manager in day-to-day project management
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, familiar and comfortable working on data management tasks
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated skills in communication (communication tools such as PPT and social media); database management (proficient with database management software’s such as Salesforce) and events organization (excellent organizational skills).
  • Strong people management and coordination skills
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English; fluency in Portuguese is a plus

The position is full-time and based in either New York (USA), Geneva (CH), London (UK) or Amsterdam (Netherlands). Possible international travel.
